GL Accountant

Job Description

EMEA Recruitment are pleased to be working with a market leading energy company based in the Amsterdam area in search of a GL Accountant.

As a GL Accountant, you will report to the Accounting Supervisor and perform general Accounting duties and assisting with statutory processes linking the US to the EMEA regions.

For the successful GL Accountant, you will work in partnership with other Finance departments (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Payroll) to ensure control and compliance.

Responsibilities of the GL Accountant:

• Coordinating, assisting, and driving the preparation and completion of audits (group, statutory, internal and tax) of assigned legal entities
• Performing monthly Blackline balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring variances are resolved
• Managing and filing all VAT, and all related filings to coordinate with all outsourced software providers
• Liaising with Corporate Tax function/external tax consultants and ensuring the filling of corporate income tax and local statistical reporting in a timely manner
• Preparing, validating, and making journal entries companies designated to you
• Supporting process system implementations and process improvement to ensure an excellent reporting process across the EMEA locations
• Participating in regional balance sheet and cost reviews with decision support teams across EMEA

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or a relevant field
• Min 3 years in Accounting and VAT or a relevant field (preferably in an international environment)
• An experienced Auditor without Accounting experience can also be considered for this role
• Knowledge of Dutch tax legislation (advantageous)
• Fluent in English
