Italian Accountant

Job Description

Our client, a leader within the global wholesale market, is looking for an Italian Accountant to join its team in Zaandam.

Assisting the European Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role assisting the European team. You will be focusing on the detailed tasks required in the Italian entity, but will also provide wider support for the European Financial Controller across the Dutch statutory entity.

Duties of the Italian Accountant will include:

• Daily processing and support for all aspects of the Italian entity
• Ensure that all Italian VAT, tax declarations and payments are made on a timely and accurate basis
• Aid the European Financial Controller with the NL VAT and ICP returns, so that they are submitted and paid on time and accurately
• Ensuring adherence to group accounting procedures and accounting policies, all compliant with legal requirements and IFRS
• Work with the European Financial Controller with producing the annual budget, forecast and additional reporting as required
• Assist with reviewing and reporting on monthly performance against budget and forecast
• Ensure all balance sheets are accurate and correctly reflect the current financial position
• Support the European Financial Controller to manage cashflow daily

Essential requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
• 3-5 years’ experience in Finance or Accounting
• Fluent in Italian and English
• Experience with Italian accounting processes, Italian VAT and corporate taxes
• Experience with Sage accounting software
• Familiarity with RIBA and “invoices in anticipation” are a plus
• Able to assist on an operational level with NL VAT, ICP and corporate tax returns
• Innovative self-starter, with strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
