Job Description

My client is looking for an experienced and driven Group Financial Controller who is passionate about sustainability and has a desire to grow within the company.

Your role will be to oversee the entire process of preparing the group financial statements and ensuring that the consolidation process is in control.

Group Financial Controller, Rotterdam, Netherlands

The Group Financial Controller contributes to the financial reporting of the company. Coordinating the annual accounts and quarterly closing process, you will work closely with various Finance colleagues to set up an efficient process.

The Finance department takes care of the financial transactions, accounting, reporting and control for the business units of the group. The department is divided into four sub-departments - Financial Transactions, Financial Accounting, Financial Control and Group Accounting.

The Group Financial Controller will be part of the Group Accounting department, covering the field of reporting, IFRS, tax accounting, and where the consolidation tool is centralized.

You will contribute ideas about various IFRS accounting issues, for example, reporting events after the balance sheet date or legal cases.

Group Financial Controller role and responsibilities:

• External reporting and the requirements of the shareholders
• You will be the driver behind the in-control framework for the Group Accounting department
• Ensure correct quarterly reports - from planning to completing and reviewing the package yourself
• Performing and assessing the functioning of internal controls (J-Sox requirements) within the Group Accounting team, focusing on financial reporting and reporting
• Managing the coordination of the quarterly reviews and audits by the Group Accountant at corporate level
• Has a desire to grow within the organization to Senior (Financial or Business) Controller position

Skills/education:

• Background in Accountancy
• You are a Registered Accountant and you have gained at least 4 years of work experience in a relevant role
• Experience of working for an Accountancy firm or Reporting position
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English
• Knowledge and experience with the application of NL GAAP and IFRS
• Hold strong analytical skills
• Experience with SAP is a plus
