Accounting and Consolidation Specialist

Job Description

My client, a dynamic, global manufacturing business headquartered in Basel, is currently seeking an Accounting and Consolidation Specialist due to an internal promotion. 

This position would be ideally suited to someone coming from the Big 4 wanting to make a move into industry, but they are also open to someone bringing relevant experience from an in-house role. 

Accounting and Consolidation Specialist - Basel, Switzerland

There is an approximate 50/50 split between Accounting and Consolidation topics and there are always new projects coming up, so this will be a highly varied role. 

The role would therefore be ideally suited to someone with flexibility to take on different topics and keen to significantly broaden their skillset within Finance.

The business has a lean Finance team, so you will need to be able to work on your own initiative, giving you broad exposure across the business, including top management and the opportunity to make an impact.

As the Accounting and Consolidation Specialist, your role will include:

• Assistance with the Consolidation for the monthly, quarterly and annual closing
• On a monthly basis, run Consolidation, post top side journals and challenge figures
• Prepare group financial statements for internal purposes on a monthly basis and for external quarterly and annual reporting
• Global process expert for intercompany
• Assist with the external audit process
• Involvement in a broad range of ad-hoc projects
• Accounting advice to local entities
• Maintain financial reporting and IT systems
• Deputy to HQ Head of Accounting

Skills required:

• Degree in Accounting or related subject
• Swiss CPA or similar professional Accounting qualification would be preferred
• Prior experience with SAP would be beneficial and confidence with Excel
• An ability to work alone and a flexible mindset
• Fluency in English - German would be desirable, but not essential
• In depth knowledge of IFRS
• Knowledge of tax and VAT
