Job Description

We’re currently searching for a Public Affairs & Sustainability Director on behalf of our client, a very dynamic, global organization offering consumer and B2B products.


Due to high ambition and growth, it is looking to appoint a Public Affairs & Sustainability Director to take ownership for government relations, sustainability strategy and crisis management.


Public Affairs & Sustainability Director - Geneve, Switzerland


The job holder will represent the company in front of governing bodies like the European Commission, the European Portable Battery Association and others, define the agenda, and lead the implementation of the lobbying strategy with the external agencies.


The role can be performed from a home office from any location in the European Union with an easy access to an international airport.

The key responsibilities of the Public Affairs & Sustainability Director will include, but will not be limited to:


  • Manage the lobbying strategy with governing bodies
  • Anticipate the impact of the regulations into the company’s business model and develop action plans against it
  • Owns the sustainability strategy and leads its implementation
  • Make sustainability a central part of the regional Initiative Master Plan
  • Responsible for deployment to local markets the sustainability and public affairs strategies and policies
  • Accountable for managing external crises, including strategy and communication to the relevant stakeholders
  • Act as a point of contact for external communication stakeholders, e.g. media
  • Act as a thought leader to external marketing/communication/media associations/consumer associations and industry
  • Responsible for public affairs and crisis management agency relationships
  • Accountable for the internal communication of new policies and key message tracks




  • Track record of successes in a similar role gained in FMCG, packaging or consumer electronics sector
  • 10+ years of experience in managing public affairs and crisis management with agencies
  • Proven experience in lobbying with European organizations and managing crisis situations in the industry
  • Successful development and implementation of a multi-functional sustainability strategy
  • Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural and geographically dispersed leadership team
  • Ability to connect with external bodies and have contagious passion to share the learnings with other members of the organization
  • Open-minded and can-do approach
  • Influences multi-functional team to achieve ambitious targets, including remote relationships
  • Brings the best out of diverse cultures and perspectives
  • Shows accountability for results and drives action with high integrity
  • Fluency in English
