Head of Indirect Procurement, Zurich, Switzerland

This is a permanent position, managing core Indirect categories linked to Production and Distribution within a top, internationally-recognised manufacturing company.

Operating within the FMCG sector, you will be responsible for Procurement activities within the Indirect space, with a particular focus on contracts, assisting the Manufacturing and Distribution facilities across Europe. Key categories include: site-based OPEX (facilities, building services and energy) and Distribution support covering Logistics/3PL contracts.

You will assist the VP of Procurement in their strategic approach to overall business objectives. You will have full control over a number of Indirect Procurement categories linked to European operational sites, managing Indirect services contracts and outsourced providers with the assistance of a specialist team of strategic and operational Buyers. You will oversee a budget in excess of 750mil USD pa. across your portfolio.

You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to set and control purchasing strategy.

By bringing previous relevant Category Management expertise, you will be adept at dealing with different stakeholders in a complex matrix environment. It would be ideal if you have experience of various Logistics and Distribution contracts, including internal, partial and fully outsourced models. You will also require a strong grounding in wider Indirect services contracts – any contracts related to OPEX or facilities would be ideal.

As the Head of Indirect Procurement, you will join a very busy, established and market-leading organisation that is dedicated to continued growth and improvement against a backdrop of tough market conditions.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of strategic purchasing, and have previously conducted negotiations, supplier search activity and organised large tenders within Indirect/Services Procurement, ideally leading specialist teams within this effort to harmonise overall department efficacy.

You will also be able to demonstrate strong cost savings and the ability to generate year-on-year savings via strong sourcing, negotiations and partnership work. The successful candidate will be a confident leader with clear direction that is able to set and achieve goals for themself and their teams.

The role will hold the remit to contribute to the development and optimisation of the function. Therefore, any experience of large scale improvement programs or transformations are highly advantageous. Somebody who holds a continual improvement mindset would be highly desirable, and as such it would be beneficial if the individual has some experience working directly within industry previously within Production or Distribution functions.

This role will suit a dynamic and adaptable mindset, who can truly develop the Indirect Purchasing function to set, source and deliver successful Indirect Procurement strategy to serve the needs of operational sites across the Production and Distribution arms of the business. Someone who is goal-driven and a natural leader will excel in this role.

  • Knowledgeable in technically complex contracts and outsourcing categories, such as Logistics and Distributions solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with ability to engage and interact with wider business units and outsourced service partners
  • Have a strong analytical mind, with the ability to conduct cost:value analysis, and regularly monitor and push the delivery of suppliers and BPO partners
  • Fluent English is essential – German and French language skills are beneficial
